27 Week Pregnancy Update
First third trimester update! Woohoo!
What’s going on with baby?
Baby girl is 2 pounds and 14 inches long—she’s a growing girl! She’s moving and kicking a lot, at various times of the day. It’s cool to think she’s already in an eating and sleeping in a rhythm. I was measuring a little small at my last appointment, but that doesn’t surprise me. Just the past two weeks I feel like I’ve been “popping out”.
At a Western Michigan game last fall!
What’s going on with mama?
I’m doing well. My blood pressure and weight are looking great. I’ve been getting 4-5 workouts a week which is awesome! Nate and I are leaving on Sunday to head to Arkansas to spend the week with his family. It’ll be a long ride down to AK, with lots of potty stops on the way, of course. My midwife also told me it may be a good idea to use compression socks on the drive—thankfully I can dig out my old marathon training socks and put them to good use again!
Three Prenatal Workouts I’m Rocking!
- Strength. I’ve been doing the Women’s Health Prenatal Workouts which involves squats, step-ups, core work, pushups, and more. It’s pretty great. And I always love the way strength workouts make me feel like a bad@$$. If you’re not into weight training, I don’t want to judge, but you should be.
- Yoga. Yoga, yoga, yoga. It makes me a better, more relaxed person. I’ve been dong a prenatal yoga sequence that I got from the yoga instructor at my pregnancy class, but I’ve also done some YogaDownload and a couple videos off of youtube.
- Walking. Slow and steady for 10 minutes; uphill climb on the treadmill for 10-15 minutes; cool down for 5-10 minutes. I like to listen to podcasts while I’m walking because it makes me feel even more productive.
Also, I just want to throw out a really cool challenge I’m participating in called the Elf 4 Health challenge! Basically there are 4 weeks of special assignments that have to do with healthy living—body, mind, and soul. One day’s task may be working out with a friend, another day may be 15 minutes of meditation, another might be writing a letter to someone you care about. You also are someones “elf” encouraging them to live healthier and you have an elf to encourage you too!
To find out more, check out the Elf for Health page! You have until tonight midnight to sign up!! Who’s with me??
Also, giving a big birthday shout-out to my little brother David who’s 20 today!! Happy Birthday Crockett! Love you!
Do you have any prenatal workout recommendations? I’d love to keep mixing it up so I don’t get bored!
thanks for spreading the elf love!
Can’t wait to see a bump pic 🙂 you are such a cute mama-to-be!
