Hey there! Today I thought I would share a whole day worth of eats with you…the good, the bad, and the ugly. 😉 We had a cold front (talking single digits and 0 and below wind chills) move in so I am craving warm and toasty things. Does anyone else’s tastes change with the weather? I’m currently aiming for 1770 calories a day and aiming for 50% carbohydrates, 30% protein, and 20% fats. The macronutrients are TOTAL work in progress. I struggle to eat enough protein. So here we go!
Breakfast: Oatmeal with peaches and a half scoop of vanilla protein powder. I worked out before hand so I was HUNGRY! I like to add protein powder to my oatmeal so it sticks with me better–this breakfast is the best for keeping me full. Way better than a bowl of cereal.
Morning Snack: Leftover oatmeal pancake
Lunch: Turkey and Black Bean Chili with toast. (No veggie–total fail!)
After lunch Layla and I ran to get groceries! I was most excited to see grass-fed beef at Aldi for $5.99! Crazy cheap for the good stuff!
Afternoon snack: Rice cake, 3 dates, almond milk hot chocolate.
Dinner: We had dinner with several of our friends/coworkers. We ate baked spaghetti made with ground turkey, salad, and whole wheat garlic toast. For dessert I made peach cobbler (perfectly portioned so there were no leftovers). It was delicious and the perfect sweet note to end dinner on. Since I was rushing around getting stuff ready I did not snap a picture. Imagine something like this for the main dish:
And something like this for the dessert:
I’ll probably remake those and share them here cause they were muy deliciouso!
Evening snack: Small handful of goldfish and cinnamon tea. Someone brought over the goldfish to share (not something I could keep in the house long term) while we hung out and a cup of hot tea is so relaxing for me in the evenings. It’s one of my favorite rituals after I put Layla down and pick up the house I like to chill out with a mug of piping hot tea. I’m an old woman at heart. And it was cold today so hot beverages are the name of the game!
I ended the day eating 1651 calories. 56% calories were from carbs, protien 25%, and 19% from fat. So I need to work on eating more protein and less carbs. The story of my life. 🙂
As you can see I’m definitely not perfect, don’t always “eat clean” but I am doing my best to be aware of what I’m eating and make better choices. [tweetthis]One of the easiest healthy swaps is lean ground turkey for ground beef. See more healthy eats>>>[/tweetthis] In spaghetti or chili you seriously don’t miss the ground beef at all!
