Hello! I hope you’ve had a relaxing weekend and are all geared up and ready to start the week! I’ve got some big news…. I’m running a marathon! But before we get started on that someone said this in church this morning and it really resonated with me:
He gives me hope, peace, and comfort when life is crazy and doesn’t make sense. And He gives me hope, peace, and comfort when life is fun and beautiful. I’m in an interesting place right now with not working and looking for a job, but I know that God has a plan for me and I trust Him. It’s all good.
In other, not as mind blowing, but still exciting news—
I’M RUNNING A MARATHON!!!
Yes. I told myself it would happen and then last year I said “no’” and now this year I’m saying yes!! I’m going to run 26.2 miles in my 26th year of life and I’m pumped! I’m going to run the Traverse City Bay Shore Marathon on May 25th! The course is gorgeous and FLAT; two things I can really get behind in a marathon!
- Consistently track food intake using MyFitnessPal app Winning! I call 6/7 days consistent.
- Complete 5 workouts I did two strength training, two walking, one kickboxing, and one yoga workout.
- Take muti-vitamin every day YES!!
- Complete Elf 4 Health challenges. Yes, more on that below.
- Write 1/2 hour a day. No…
- Play piano 2 times this week. I’ve been practicing my Christmas music!
- Decorate for Christmas. It’s so pretty around here!
- Finish Christmas shopping Almost! I still have a few little things left for Nate.
- Complete volunteer application No. I keep forgetting to do this!

Elf 4 Health
Elf for Health has been a lot of fun! I really like my Elf Christi, she’s such a cutie! The challenges this week were:
Monday: Go meatless—This took a little tweaking, but nothing earth shaking. I am NOT going vegetarian or vegan anytime soon though!
Tuesday: Send a card or note to a friend—A great reminder to stay in touch with those far away and who doesn’t love getting a letter.
Wednesday: Try a new workout—Yeah, I didn’t really do this. I’m so boring.
Thursday: Meditate for 15 minutes—I did 15 minutes of gentle yoga stretching while praying. I really liked it and felt very calm and at peace afterwards. Aaah.
Friday: Eat lots of colors—Check out those beautiful colors! I got every color of the rainbow except yellow in. Booya!
Saturday: Clean out your closet—I actually did this today because I forgot about it yesterday. I clean out my closet fairly regularly and did a pretty decent purge right before we moved but I still found 5 things that didn’t fit well or I haven’t worn in awhile. Plus everything I got rid of I bought in college, which has been 4+ years, which for the quality of clothes I bought in college is probably too long to have them! I used this handy wardrobe editing flow chart to help me decide what could stay and what needed to go.
So that’s all my big plans– the biggest one being I’m Running a Marathon!
Has anyone else started planning for races in 2013?
