I recently applied to be a part of the Empower Fitness testing review team and I was so excited when they approved my application and invited me to review one of their great products!
I must say, picking out a product to review was probably the hardest part! They have so many great options for busy women and many of their products are dvd driven, so they are perfect for those with on-the-go lifestyles! I love that Empower seems to really “get” fitness for women that’s fast, effective, and doesn’t break the bank!
I chose to try out their Boxing Boot Camp. It comes with a 6 lb. medicine ball, weighted boxing gloves, a jump rope, and workout dvd.
I LOVED this workout! It’s designed in 12 rounds of boxing circuits that alternate exercises every 30 seconds so you are NEVER bored and always mixing it up! I loved all the punching too—made me feel super kick butt! And the instructor incorporated lower body work too, with squats and jumps; at the end my heart was pumping, I was sweaty and tired. There is also a 5 minute optional abs workout; and in order to give you the best review possible I completed it even though I was worn out! And holy mother abs, it was tough, but sooo good. The kind of ab work you know will pay off in the summer! The next day my arms, shoulders, and abs were feeling sore, but in a very good way.
I also must say there are some fitness dvd instructors who you want to PUNCH IN THE FACE—too perky, to weird, really canned, just people who annoy the crap out of you. The instructor Jamie Clampitt, is not at all like that, she pushes you, but not in an annoying way. I think the only thing I might have added is some better tunes behind the workout—I love a good workout jam!
Overall this is an awesome product and I will be using it a LOT in the future! I loved how empowering and fun it was, while giving me a great mix or cardio and strength training.
You can find Boxing Boot Camp at your local Kohls or Hayneedle.com.
