Hello! Welcome to Hump Day! I thought today I would give you a glimpse into a day in my life..not everyday is exciting, but everyday is a gift.
7:15 AM—I hear Layla on the monitor and wake up to feed her. We are SO lucky she is a good sleeper! We’ve had her on a loose babywise/baby whisperer schedule, we swaddle, and use a fan while she sleeps, but mostly I think her being a good sleeper can only be attributed to her being a good sleeper. But she comes by it honestly, Nate and I looove our sleep.
7:45—I change and dress Layla and make some oatmeal with raspberries for breakfast! Coffee is a must as well!
8:00—Layla and I hang out—reading, chatting, singing– and she plays on her playmat until she starts getting sleepy.
8:30–Then she gets wrapped up and goes down for her first nap of the day. (Normally the longest.)
8:45–I get a quick workout in via Fitnessista’s Winter Shape Up Week 1 Workout. OMG I am dying and I’m doing all the modifications. Workout is killer, but it feels good to get a good sweat sesh in!
9:15– Stretch and cool down; then shower for the day.
9:30– Layla is fussy; just some gas so we get that worked out and then I put her back to sleep.
9:40—I quickly do my hair and makeup.
9:50—Settle in to take care of some work emails and to-dos. I’m so excited because I hear back from a mission organization (that I absolutely love!) confirming their involvement during Family Camp in Summer 2015!
11:20—Layla wakes up (her morning nap is always longest) and eats
11:50—We head up to the main building of our camp to eat lunch with the other staff and our guests. I make a big salad topped with chicken salad and have a bowl of cactus chili. I avoid my favorite brownies with caramel in them…so good, but a dessert a day is not on the “get fit after baby” regimen.
1:30–I leave lunch; it’s so nice to live near great friends! Some days are busy-busy so it was nice to slow down and chat today. Nate stops by and plays with Layla until her nap. Nate and I chill and talk for awhile while he works some from home and I make a grocery list and fitness plan for the week.
2:30–Layla is up to eat again!
3:15–Then I get her ready and we head off to get groceries and run errands. We stop at the bank, Aldis and Meijer! She’s clearly stoked.
5:15 Back home! I unload the groceries, then feed Layla.
6:10 Layla and I head up the Ministry Center again for dinner with Nate. (We are having a Conference this week so we have meals every night this week—an awesome camp benefit!)
7:30 Back home—put Layla down for a short nap. I steal a little bit of shut-eye too right now!
8:00 Layla is up again to eat. Nate heads back to work to run bowling for one of our camp groups. Layla is in a snuggly mood so we snuggle for awhile. She seems a little fussy but it’s nothing that some mama-lovin’ can’t handle. I wrap her up for another little nap around 9:15.
9:15—I bum around the internet and then start writing this post.
10:30—Layla is up again for her last feed before “real bedtime”.
11:00—Bedtime for Layla—mommy and daddy follow within a half hour.
And then we start all over again! Some days I work more than others, but probably 2 hours a day is average. I try to get that done during Layla’s long nap in the morning or take her to the office when she’s just fed and happy. I’m thankful for a flexible job that allows me to put being a mom first!
Some days my workouts get interrupted. Some days we go on walks. I’m trying to cherish each day. Having a baby is good for me that way.
What is your favorite part of your day?
