Delicious and Healthy Valentine’s Day Recipes
Recently I asked my husband to describe our marriage in 5 words or less. Here’s what he said:
- Encouraging
- Supportive
- Fun
- Selfless
- Selfish
I was a little tripped up by the last one, but to have a good marriage there is a natural give and take. Yes, you absolutely have to give selflessly. But you also have to be a little selfish. And frankly, it can be humbling and vulnerable to say, “Hey, I need some time off tonight by myself” or “I really want some girl time.” But it’s necessary in a good marriage. You’ve got to give with joy (cause your spouse will need their me time, bro time or video game time too) AND receive with joy.
Marriage is selfless and selfish. I love that juxtaposition. Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to get creative and give selflessly to your significant other via an amazing Valentine’s Day dinner! Or drop some hints (aka send them the link to this post :D) and let them know YOU would love to receive an incredible, healthy home cooked meal!
