Disclaimer: I received a box of Designer Whey goodies free of charge to review as part of a Fitfluential campaign. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I normally use their Designer Whey’s Vanilla protein powder, but I hadn’t tried any of their other products so I was excited to receive this box of fun goodies from Designer Whey including their White Chocolate protein powder, Vanilla Protein powder, Protein 2Go Drink mix. protein shakes and protein bars.
Let me just say before I get to talking about their products, that their presentation was stellar! I’ve received a few different boxes from company’s and I always appreciate when they go the extra mile with graphics, tissue paper, fun quotes, etc. Designer Whey definitely knows how to put a top-notch looking box of goodies together.
My favorite thing they sent was the White Chocolate protein powder!
I have been a fan of their vanilla flavor and it was so fun to mix things up with the chocolate and create new recipes like my Tropical Green Smoothie! They have low (100 per serving) calories, good protein counts (18 grams), and don’t have crazy “protein powder” aftertaste. The Vanilla is a great basic flavor and both powders are easy to add to baked goods, oatmeal, and smoothies for an extra boost of protein.
My second favorite thing was the protein bars that they sent!
Yes, a protein bar that doesn’t taste like cardboard and didn’t leave me raiding the cupboards and hour later! Each of these flavors was really good-I’d have to say my favorite was the Chocolate Caramel Crunch, it was delicious! Also, I ate one for lunch (because I didn’t want to stop to eat) last Thursday and it kept me full for four hours. A definite win in my book!
The final two products they sent were good, but I didn’t love them like I did the protein bars and whey protein powder. The Protein2Go were packs that you just add to water after a workout for a quick protein burst for recovery. The stats were good—at 50 calories and 10 grams of protein they definitely did the job, the taste just wasn’t amazing for me. Good, I could definitely drink it and definitely would, especially if I was coming back from a long run or gym session and needed to get protein in me stat!
The protein shakes were also pretty good and had excellent stats—18 grams of protein and 100 calories! They are basically the pre-mixed versions of their protein powder which are super-convenient if you are rushing out the door for breakfast or a quick post workout meal, but I’d really just rather make my own smoothie (like this pb&j inspired green smoothie) with their protein powder.
Overall, I was really happy to conduct this Designer Whey Review. They have a lot of great info on their website like recipes for Chernaple Me Crazy smoothie and Coconut Protein Pancakes as well as sensible meal and exercise plans.
Do you use protein powders or supplements? What’s the craziest smoothie combination you’ve ever made? My not so great ones always have an ADHD assortment of ingredients—haha! One of my favorite was when I put in lots of frozen green grapes—so yummy!
