Disclaimer: I received 5 free days of food and compensation in exchange for my honest review of DietToGo. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Hey! If you folllow me on Instagram you may have noticed that I received some meals to review last week from DietToGo. I was excited that DietToGo reached out to me and asked me to try out their healthy diet delivery service and meals.
What is DietToGo?
From their website:
We know eating healthy is not always easy. When there are so many demands on our time, the effort if takes to plan for, buy and prepare healthy, nutritious meals can be overwhelming. And when you’re trying to lose weight, healthy eating can become a herculean effort, but not with Diet-to-Go.
At Diet-to-Go, we take the effort out of healthy eating. We’ve done the research, the shopping and the preparing for you. All of our meals are perfectly portioned, nutritionally balanced, taste tested and freshly prepared. We include all the extras like fruits, sides and even the condiments so there’s no last minute shopping trips or complicated meal preparations. All you have to do is eat the food and lose weight! *
How Does the Service Work?
You choose your calorie plan (I chose 1600), type of plan (traditional, vegetarian, low-carb), number of meals, let them know if you have any allergies or meal preferences, and choose a shipping date. Meal costs average $6.95. You can start and stop the service at any time and you can substitute any meal for a meal you like better. They send you the meals in a large, refrigerated container all ready to go! You also get a personal menu for the week and the nutritional info is on most of the meal packages; you can also find a full nutritional breakdown online.
How did they taste?
They were good! I liked that each meal came with sides and dessert too; sometimes I swapped these around because I’m creative like that. Some meals were better than others and I felt like some froze/prepped better than others, but overall the meal quality was good. It was also easy (since as a breastfeeding mom I need more calories) to add in a salad at meals and nutritious snacks to supplement my calorie needs. My favorite meal was the barbecue chicken burger with peach and pear parfait! I felt like their was a good variety in the meals as well—some Mexican, some Italian, some American.
Who is This Service Best for?
I would definitely recommend this service for someone who is just starting out in healthy eating and wants a convenient healthy eating plan that is hard to mess up! I mean, you just open the meals, microwave, and eat! It’s nice that they do all the planning, shopping, and cooking for you. If you enjoy cooking and feel like you have more of a handle on what constitutes a healthy meal, then I would more likely pass on this service or maybe buy the meals and pull them out only when you’re in a hurry and want an easy, fast healthy meal.
I would also say that $6.95 per meal is a little high cost compared to making healthy meals at home for me. But, if you take these to work instead of eating fast food, then it’s basically a cheaper or equivalent cost. I also think it would be awesome if DietToGo expanded their service to family meals that served 4-6. I don’t feel like quick, healthy meals for a family are easy to come by and it would be great to come home after a busy day of work, sport practices, school, etc. and have a meal that’s ready to go for the whole family—a great alternative to ordering pizza or picking up a bucket of KFC. Just a thought.
Overall, a great service that could really benefit some people on their healthy living journey. 4 out of 5 stars.
