Layla at 4 Months

This last month whizzed by! Parenting is constantly bittersweet; every moment is going fast. I love how she is growing and changing, and at the same time I want her to stay this size forever. Here’s a little about Layla at 4 months.

At four months Layla…

  • Weighs exactly 12 pounds and is 23.25 inches long. (20% for weight; 50% for height) Although she is small, she is growing and strong and her Dr. is happy with her growth.
  • Rolls both ways
  • Sits up with support—she is really enjoying her Bumbo chair and is through with her reclining seat.
  • Eats every 3-4 hours and is stretching out her feedings closer to the 4 hour range more and more.

  • Is sooo chatty! And getting loud too! We love talking with her.
  • Has laughed a few times…it always makes my day and I try so hard to get her to chuckle!
  • Goes to Cove Kids (childcare at camp) a couple times a week for a few hours at a time.
  • Is drooling like crazy and gnawing on everything! She is determined to crack some teeth through!

Layla likes…

  • Taking walks (or runs!) upright in her stroller. She just looks and looks all around.
  • Being on her tummy (for the first time she actually likes it!)
  • All the attention from the campers and summer staffers!
  • Going to the Splashpad to look and hear the water.
  • Listening to music and “singing” along.
  • Giving wet, slobbery, open mouth kissesDSC_0105

Layla does not like…

  • Being super-tired or super-hungry…otherwise she is such a pleasant and easy-going gal!

Mommy’s favorite things…

  • Snuggling with Layla in the evenings
  • Chatting and playing on her changer
  • How she grabs on tightly to me when she falls asleep
  • The other day she put both hands on my face and went in for a big baby kiss.
  • “Playing” with Layla. She rolled over on the side where she couldn’t see me and then would roll over to look at me with a big grin. Then roll back to “hide” and then roll back to surprise me.

I’m absolutely loving every moment of being Layla’s mom! She is a living picture of God’s grace to me everyday.

  1. She is beautiful! My daughter is close in age and I completely relate to your comment about parenting being bittersweet. I wish we could pause time for a bit, but it’s incredible to watch her grow and develop and change. We’re still waiting on our first laughs — I bet that is just the best! (It’s all the best, though, isn’t it?!) Hope you have a lovely weekend!
