Midweek Update

Hi there!

How is your week going! Thanks for all the positive feedback on my Best Running Mantras post! I love that it encouraged so many people! Just thought I would check in today with a little Midweek Update on life, food, and fitness.

Workouts

Monday: 2 mile walk

Tuesday: Off

Wednesday: Summer Shape Up Workout 1 and 20 Minutes HIIT (run/walk intervals)

Thursday: Off

Friday: SSU Workout 1 and 20 Minute Hills

Saturday: 25 Minute HIIT (run/walk intervals)

Sunday: Walk or other steady cardio

I’m excited to be a part of Fitnessista’s Summer Shape Up again this year! If you haven’t be sure to check it out—a free workout plan (plus encouragement and prizes) from a personal trainer and free meal plan from a nutritionist! I’m glad for how well my workouts went last week (5 days of solid steady, HIIT, and weights), but I need to keep building onto that momentum.

Food

We are starting into the summer season of camping which brings its own fun and healthy living challenges. One challenge is the food. Our food is good. Not like your old summer camp days of hot dogs and sloppy joes, nu-uh. The only problem with that is that it isn’t generally healthy—it can be, but it’s not exactly what they’re going for. By next week we should have a weekly menu, so we’ll know what meals are healthier and which we may skip and opt to eat at home. In the meantime I’m making it a habit to start each meal with a big salad and skipping the dessert table. You do what you can when you can.

Life (Baby, Work, Everything Else)

So I packed up some of Layla’s newborn things this week and totally lost it.  I can’t believe she is almost 4 months old! She is such a sweet, fun baby—I can’t believe how incredibly blessed we are! Yes, it can be challenging: I’ve been pooped on, peed on, spit up on, been sleep deprived and hormonal, my body is not my own, my hours are not my own, my life is not my own. It’s the best thing that has every happened to me. And honestly, I love it—there are so many fun, playful, loving, rewarding, joyful moments. (And many of those moments are the bodily fluid, sleep deprived ones. lol! If you can’t laugh at being pooped on, what can you laugh about?!)  Parenthood is a good thing…I might have started earlier if I knew it was going to be so fun. Smile

I’m still working about 10 hours a week, but it might go up this next week as we move into summer. There is more to do, but there is also childcare available for Layla 4 days a week with some amazing girls on our summer staff. I feel good about leaving her with them. (At lunch the other day there was literally a circle of girls hovering around her and a line to hold her.) Plus, I’ll just be a few steps away in my office if she needs anything.

Have an amazing Wednesday! Remember, it is never too late to make a fresh start!
