30 Promises of God in the Bible to Claim Everyday
What are the promises of God in the Bible?
Why do they matter?
And how does knowing God’s promises actually change the way we live as His followers?
Over the course of one summer, I felt God gently and repeatedly drawing my attention to His promises. Sometimes it was a Bible verse that came to mind at just the right moment. Other times it was a lyric from a worship song or words that seemed to leap off the page as I was reading Scripture. Again and again, I was reminded of the many promises God has given us in His Word.
Updated January 2026
I know our Heavenly Father has given us precious promises — promises meant to bring hope, peace, joy, wisdom, and strength for whatever we are facing in our everyday lives. And yet, it breaks my heart to know how many Christian women feel desperate to see those promises lived out, but aren’t sure where to find them or whether they truly apply to their own messy, ordinary lives.
Many women love God deeply but quietly wonder:
Which promises are really for me?
How do I know what God has actually promised?
Can I trust His promises when life feels hard or uncertain?
If that’s you, you’re not alone — and I hope this list encourages your heart today.
God is for you. He loves you. And throughout Scripture, He has given promises meant to bless us spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and even physically as we walk with Him.
30 Promises of God in the Bible to Claim Today
Before diving in, it helps to remember this: God’s promises are found throughout both the Old and New Testaments. Many promises in the Old Testament are beautifully fulfilled through Jesus in the New Testament, revealing God’s consistent faithfulness across generations.
Below, you’ll find a curated list of promises from God’s Word — not meant to overwhelm, but to invite you to slow down, reflect, and trust Him more deeply.
Promises About Who God Is
God’s character and who He is and will always be–are His promises to us! God’s Word tells us who He is and how we can know His heart.
God is always good.
Psalm 119:68 — You are good and do good. Teach me your statues.
This little promise of God is so powerful. God is both good in His character and always good in His actions. Eastman’s Bible dictionary defines God’s goodness as “the perfection of His character” It’s His benevolence as showcased by His mercy, compassion, forgiveness, and grace.
God’s good actions aren’t manipulation or coercion, but a loving extension of His heart–good. This makes Him even more trustworthy with both the little and big things in our lives.
God is always with me
Joshua 1:9 —This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
God’s omnipresence (His ability to be everywhere at once) means we will never go somewhere without Him. The highest regions of outer space and the depths of the oceans aren’t too far away for Him. He’ll never leave us out of spite or anger. His presence is the constant for us—in the good and the bad of life, He celebrates with us and comforts us.

God is faithful and trustworthy
Hebrews 10:23 —Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since He who promised is faithful.
This promise reminds us that God is always going to keep His word to us. He will never abandon us or betray us. This promise of God’s faithfulness means we can trust Him without wavering–even when life is really difficult.
God is kind and compassionate
Isaiah 54:10 — Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love {kindness} for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
The word for “unfailing love” is hesed in Hebrew. It means God’s specific loving-kindness, mercy, and goodness towards His people. It is an emotion that God experiences toward His children. Compassion is a similar word that encapsulates both God’s tender parental love and the loving actions that are compelled by His kindness.
God is merciful and ready to help.
Hebrews 4:16 — Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.
In this Bible verse we’re encouraged to bring our requests and needs boldly to God. He isn’t put out with us for having needs and desires–in fact, His mercy and grace are always ready to come to our aid.
Promises of God’s Presence & Peace
God gives peace that passes understanding
Philippians 4:5-7 — The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
This passage reminds me of all the times my little one reaches out for my hand—when she’s scared, needs help, or just wants assurance of my love and care. I know that me being at hand brings peace to her heart when she is afraid.
Holding God’s hand means my Heavenly Father is ready to guide me, reassure me, comfort me, support me, protect me. It means I don’t have to be afraid. It means I can rejoice when the big things are hard AND when the little things are hard.
God goes before us.
Psalm 23:1-2 — The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.
God walks with us through every situation in our life, AND He has also gone before us. Like the pillar of cloud and flame that led Israel through the wilderness, we follow step-by-step behind Him, our Good Shepherd. His plan is not a map or GPS narrating the path—He is right there, always one step ahead, guiding and protecting us as we go.
God gives peace
Isaiah 26:3 — You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace, for it is trusting in you.
When we trust in God, our minds can stop their frantic overthinking and catastrophizing. Thank goodness, we do not have to plan for every eventuality. Even in the unexpected (and unwanted), we can relax and let God be who He is—trustworthy, kind, good, loving, patient, and forgiving.
God brings rest to the weary
Matthew 11:28-30 — Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
God’s arms are always a soft place for his children to land. His gentleness (power under control) allows us to rest in every dimension of life. Our bodies, souls, and spirits can “cease striving” and simply be with Jesus.
God’s presence brings joy to life.
Psalm 16:11 — You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
True joy isn’t found in our circumstances but in Jesus Himself and His presence in our lives. As believers, we can experience what Scripture calls a “fullness of joy” that comes from being near God. This isn’t the fleeting happiness that depends on everything going right—it’s a deep, settled contentment that holds steady even when life feels chaotic.

God’s Promises for Strength, Help & Courage
God strengthens us.
Isaiah 41:10 — So do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
My family learned this comforting Bible verse together at family camp, complete with silly hand motions and fun intonations. It’s incredibly comforting while being theologically rich. Our fears and anxieties are put to rest by God’s presence and relationship with us in the first half of the verse. Then we read His triple-threat promise to strengthen, help, and hold us. When we don’t know how we will get through, when the baby doesn’t sleep, when the heavy diagnosis comes–God promises to show up and carry us through. We are never left helpless. We are held, empowered, and assisted by the one-and-only Yahweh.
God helps us in trouble
Psalm 138:7-8a —Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me.The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me.
We aren’t promised a trouble-free life—but we are promised God’s preservation and help. In the midst of our problems and struggles God reminds us “He will fulfill His purpose for me”. His work in and through you isn’t thwarted by your circumstances, in fact, it may be those troubling times that do the most work in shaping us to become more like Jesus.
God gives courage in every storm
Matthew 14:27 —But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
With Jesus by our side, our fear doesn’t have to have the final word. Courage isn’t the complete absence of fear, but the ability to act in the face of it. It’s finding strength even in the midst of pain and grief.
This gift of courage isn’t something we muster up in our own strength—it’s infused by Jesus’ power and presence in our storm. When He says “It is I,” He’s reminding us that the One who calms the wind and waves is the same One standing with us in whatever we’re facing.

Promises of Provision and Guidance
God is working for your good.
Romans 8:28 — We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.
The Message says, “Every detail of our lives of love for God is worked into something good.” Sometimes I like to think of this like baking my favorite brownies. Is a spoonful of cocoa powder delicious on its own? What about a bite of flour or a mound of salt? Nope! But when every ingredient comes together, they create something wonderful.
The same is true for the details of my life—the sweet and salty alike are forming me into something good. I may not know the recipe or understand why certain ingredients are being added, but I know my God is making something beautiful. He wastes nothing, and He’s always working for my good.
God freely gives wisdom
James 1:5 — If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
God is not stingy with wisdom. He loves to overflow it to His children, knowing we need it to navigate this world. I prayerfully claim this promise every day for myself and my children.
Promises of God About Our Identity in Christ
God has a purpose for you
Ephesians 2:10 — For we are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
God didn’t create you on accident. Your life has a God-ordained purpose. There is a gift God has put inside you that is meant to shine as a light to the world, displaying God’s glory.
You are God’s beloved child.
1 John 3:1 — See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
Of all the identities we hear from others and speak over ourselves, this identity is the most important one. You are God’s beloved child. God will never disown you or stop loving you. Ever.
Nothing can separate us from God’s love
Romans 8:38-39 — For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
In case you didn’t catch it in the verse above, this passage doubles down on how inseparable you are from God’s love. Paul lists everything he can think of—spiritual forces, time itself, the heights of space, the depths of the ocean—and declares that NONE of it can sever your connection to God’s love. Not your circumstances. Not your failures. Not even your own worst moments.
This isn’t a love you have to earn or maintain through perfect behavior. It’s anchored in Christ Jesus, which means it’s as secure as He is. When you feel distant from God, remember: His love hasn’t budged. It never will.
God has a good plan for us
Jeremiah 29:11 — For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
God’s plans for your life are for your good. Not like a swimming pool in the backyard or a shiny new car or a lifetime bill of good health, but His plans are for our peace, welfare, and wholeness of body, mind, and soul. These are His intentions for you. No matter how hard things get (and things were very hard to the people these word were written to) you can rest in the fact that God’s plans for you aren’t meant to hurt you, but to bring healing, hope, and goodness.
God directs our paths
Proverbs 3:5-6 — Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.
God is trustworthy with your life. Soak in His Word so you get to know and trust Him. Then live your life hand-in-hand with Jesus and watch how He gently leads you down the roads you need to be on.
Promises for Forgiveness, Renewal & Freedom
God forgives our sins.
1 John 1:9 — If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
God doesn’t hold grudges. He forgives fully and wholeheartedly when we ask Him. Because of Jesus we are forgiven and given a whole new citizenship, a new way of being and interacting with the world.

We are a New Creation
2 Corinthians 5:17 — Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new is here!
Choosing to follow Jesus isn’t like flipping a switch where suddenly all your struggles disappear overnight. Your old patterns and sinful habits don’t vanish the moment you say “yes” to Jesus. But here’s what does change: your identity. You are no longer defined by your past, your mistakes, or your worst moments. You are a new creation—completely remade at the core of who you are.
This newness isn’t about perfection; it’s about transformation. The Holy Spirit is now living in you, growing new desires, new perspectives, and new fruit in your life. Day by day, the “old you” loses its grip as God’s work continues.
You’re not who you used to be, even when the old habits try to convince you otherwise. The new has come—and it’s still coming. God isn’t finished with you yet.
We are not condemned
Romans 8:1 — Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Paul uses courtroom language to remind us that our legal debt has been paid in full. We are free and clear—our slate has been wiped clean. We aren’t just loved by Jesus; we are in Jesus (held, kept, possessed by Him). No past choice, present struggle, or future mistake will ever condemn us to a life outside of God’s love or strip away our identity as His children.
God gives us power to live for Him
2 Timothy 1:7 — For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
Living for Jesus isn’t about white-knuckling your way through obedience or mustering up enough willpower to be “good enough.” God doesn’t ask us to follow Him in our own strength—He gives us His Spirit to empower us.
This same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, providing everything you need: power to overcome, love to extend grace (even when it’s hard), and self-discipline to make choices that honor God. You’re not called to fearfulness, You have the Spirit of the living God dwelling in you, equipping you for every good work He’s called you to.
Jesus gives us abundant life
John 10:10 — The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
In Greek, the word translated as ‘abundance’ is ‘perissos,’ meaning exceeding, over and above, more than is needed. It’s about having your cup overflowing. But it doesn’t just mean full or above; it also means superior, extraordinary, surpassing, and uncommon. “Perissos” isn’t only about quantity, it’s about quality–a life overflowing with more and better than we could ever dream.
That doesn’t mean that our lives are going to overflow with top-of-the-line minivans or gorgeous kitchens or once-in-a-lifetime vacations. It might (and goodness knows we will be thankful if it does), but as we read our Bibles and understand God’s heart to us, we see that He knows what is actually valuable in life and that is what he longs to overflow to us.

Promises of Hope & Eternal Life
We have eternal life in Christ
John 3:16 — For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him will not perish, but will have eternal life.
This may be the most powerful and important promise in all of Scripture — the promise every follower of Jesus has staked their eternity on. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus brought those who believe in Him back into a restored relationship with God once and for all.
We have a restored relationship with God
Ephesians 2:13 — But now in Christ Jesus, you who were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Jesus work on the cross gave us not just legal freedom, but relational restoration. We get to “draw near to God in full assurance of faith” as the writer of Hebrews says. The rift of sin doesn’t stand between us anymore; we can be as close to God as we want to be.
God fills us with hope
Romans 15:13 — May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
God is hope and He overflows hope to us. While life is hard–on a global and personal scale–our hope can wear thin. We become disillusioned and discouraged, wondering if anything we do really matters at all. But when we lean close to Jesus we receive a hope-filled dose of joy and peace that sees us through the hardest days.

God finishes what He starts in us
Philippians 1:6 — I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
God doesn’t do shoddy work. When He begins a job, He finishes it. He will complete the change that He is working in our lives to make us more like Him. Day-by-day, tiny bit by tiny bit we are changed to be more like Jesus.
God is preparing a home for us.
John 14:2-3 — In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also.
A popular worship song says, “Death is just a doorway into resurrection life”, reminding us that our life doesn’t end in our final moments on earth. We have our forever home waiting for us where every ache of our lives will be healed, where peace is the air we breath, and where God’s kingdom is our reality.
If reading through these promises stirred something in your heart, I want you to know this: God’s promises aren’t meant to be rushed or skimmed — they’re meant to be lived in.

Hello,
I am praying about leading a Bible study for some ladies in my neighborhood. None of them attend church, are a wide age span, and come from very different backgrounds. I love reading about God’s promises, so thought maybe this would be a good place to start or would you recommend something else? This is a book, right?
Thank you,
Teresa
Hi Teresa, it is a printable 30 day guided Bible study so each day there is a verse to read, Scripture writing, journaling question and worship song of the day that goes with the promise. In addition there are 3 Bible study videos where we dig deeper into the context and history of the promises and one workshop where we see some of the pitfalls that trip people up when it comes to the promises of God. I do think this is a very good intro study–we have a lot of young believers at our church and I always keep that in mind when I write my studies. 🙂 I’m happy to get you a group rate if you decide to do it!
I am sorry! I just saw this! I have been emailing you to order at the group rate. I just placed my order, so I can be familiar with the material before we start to meet. Would you please send me the info on how to place a group order? Thank you! I currently have 4 moms and should double that once I talk to the ladies at church.
Thank you!
teresa
