Hey! Hope you had a great weekend! Mine was a good mixture of lazy, work, and play. Speaking of lazy, I’ve got to be honest since completing the Summer Shred at the end of May I haven’t had a regular workout schedule or plan. Part of that was I never chose another one after the Shred and part of it had to do with adjusting to camp starting and the traveling we did during June.
In any case about a week ago I started to notice a few little things that made me realize I needed to get back in the game. So last week my only goal for the week was finishing 5 workouts— pulling myself out of a slump became the priority. I felt like that was a good step back into fitness and as big of a goal as I could handle at the time.
So last week I…
Sunday: Ran 2 miles with my sister
Tuesday: 45 minutes of gardening (pulling weeds, hoeing—I was drenched in sweat!)
Wednesday: 1 mile run plus upper body strength training workout
Friday: 30 minute walk
Saturday 45 minutes kayaking (It was so fun and relaxing to be on the water!)
So not the most intense week of exercise but I’m pumped that I hit my goal!
This week my workout plan is to…
Sunday: Run 2.5 miles (Ran with Becca this morning so already DONE!!)
Monday: Strength train
Wednesday: Strength train
Thursday: Run or bike with Nate
Should be fun! I’m so happy that despite her hectic schedule my sister is nearby and we can workout together some! Granted, I don’t always take her up on her offers to workout at 6 AM, but her getting after it, spurs me on (just later in the day)! I also have determined to be in bed by 11:00 each night. I had been staying up waay to late, which left me no energy to workout or making healthy eating choices.
Things I didn’t do…
Didn’t let a couple “bad” weeks screw with my head. I’m still a happy, worthwhile person even if I don’t work out.
Didn’t jump in with an elaborate marathon, triathlon, or other intense plan. I bit off what I knew I could chew. Aim out of your reach and you’ll only end up frustrated and spiraling.
Didn’t wallow. There is a great temptation to whine about how out of shape you are then proceed to do nothing about it. Don’t be that person. No whining, just doing.
So that’s how I’m busting out of my slump! How do you break free from a slow or negative time?
