Some Big News!

So we’ve got some news….

B is for big sister

Nate and I are thrilled to announced that we are expecting a little one in April! I am at the end of my first trimester, almost to week 13. I’ve felt mostly good for the first trimester, some nausea, food aversions, and lots of tiredness, but so far I feel blessed with a fairly easy pregnancy.

Did you guys totally know? I feel like it’s been SO obvious! No running, lots of naps, no more talk about weight loss, carbs galore. haha! It’s definitely a shift in perspective and a reminder that all the healthy living “stuff” I do isn’t for outward appearances, but for building a healthy life, so I can have things like a healthy pregnancy. I’m definitely showing sooner too! I heard all my last pregnancy how small I was and I don’t think that will be the case this time around. Basically, all a pregnant woman wants to hear is that she’s beautiful and glowing. 😀Baby Scott 2

It’s also been great to look back at my pregnancy updates with Layla. Just some nice reminders that I’ve gone through all this before, survived on bagels for months, and still had a healthy baby. 😉  I’m seeing the same midwife I saw with Layla and will deliver in the same hospital. It’s nice to have some of those big things already figured out and not have those decisions looming over me. I mean, do you guys know how hard it was to pick out a crib! It’s nice that it is already assembled and ready to go (well except for having Layla still in it)!

Layla will be a little over 2 when the new baby comes and I think she will {mostly} be a great big sister. She is such an amazing little helper and has a very caring heart. It may be hard for her to share mama and daddy, but she is also super independent so I could see it not being as much of an issue too. We will just take it one day at a time. We’re excited for our family to grow again and to love on this new life! I’ve missed that baby smell!

Eek! This picture definitely gets me excited for a tiny baby! I know they’re a lot of work, but they are so beyond precious too!  …sigh…

Mamas, what was your worst first trimester symptom?

  1. Yay! I’m so excited for you and your growing family! I know I showed a lot quicker this time around too. Nathan will 2 weeks shy of his 2nd birthday…if our baby comes on his / her due date. I’m excited, too, to hold a little baby again…and am trying not to think of the sleepless nights to come! 🙂

  2. So excited for you Kate!!! Can’t wait to follow your 2nd pregnancy journey. Life is so beautiful, and the smile on your faces says it all. God’s goodness is manifold.

    1. Thank you, Em! I’m glad to be sharing about the pregnancy–it’s hard to keep a secret when you have a blog! 😀

  3. Congrats mama! We are a few weeks behind you with number two – i agree it’s a lot less stressful with the second, knowing what to expect and having a lot of the big decisions made already!

    1. Thank you! I do think it has all around been eaiser for me so I hope that continues. Knowing what to expect is HUGE! Congrats to you too!

  4. Congrats!! To be honest, I did wonder at Ashley’s wedding but only because you had a glow about you. So happy for you!

My worst first trimester symptom x is one that carries through until the baby is born…hyperemesis. Actually, when you saw me at the wedding that was the first time I had been out in public in over 6 weeks! I literally kept no food or fluids down for almost 8 weeks. I throw up all day, everyday…well did until, after three trips to the hospital, I was put on a med pump. Yay! Now i carry around a pump and wrestle a two year old:) I will never take hydration for granted any time soon!

    1. Oh my goodness! You poor thing! I have heard of women having it and needing a pump–I’ll be saying some extra prayers for you cause I’m sure you’ll be needing extra extra grace.
