Howdy, folks! How was your weekend? Did you party hearty or keep it mellow?
We went out Friday night for dinner and then took in a comedy show! The Downton downtown area in Kalamazoo has some great stuff going on and we had a fun time at the show. It was something different to do and we got the tickets for free! #winning #hashtagsareforeverywhere
I woke up Saturday morning with a sore throat and some sinus congestion so I decided to skip my long run (outside in 19 degree cold). It didn’t seem like a good decision. So I rested and took in lots of fluids. I was a little freaked out to miss another long run, but after digging over some marathon training plans I’m feeling confident I will be able to get back in the swing of things quickly!
I took a lovely walk this afternoon and it was lovely. Crisp and sunny! It’s been sunny the past two days, solidifying my love for March all over again.
This week is a particularly busy one here at GLM and I’m not making a meal plan like I normally do because we are eating almost every meal at camp. This can be a bit tricky to do healthfully. My plan is to:
- keep avoiding dairy (which cuts out a lot of not-so-great food anyways),
- get my 5 servings of fruits and vegetables,
- and only eat dessert if it’s incredibly worth it.
The only thing that sounds incredibly worth it right now is cheesecake, so….I may just be passing all together. Fact: I really love chocolate, but I don’t like many chocolate desserts, like cakes or mousse or well anything but a square of dark chocolate. I mean, I’ll eat it, but I’d rather have a slice of hot apple pie or a NY style cheesecake any day of the week! Mmmm….hot apple pie….sounds so good…
Okay moving on before I start drooling on my keyboard!
I’ve adapted my marathon training plan a bit, going forward I’m going to be using Hal Higdon’s marathon novice 1 plan. It’s really similar to what I was doing before, but seems like a better fit for my life and the few little setbacks I’ve had in training.
Sunday: Walked 3 miles
Monday: Strength workout
Tuesday: 3 Mile run incorporating speed intervals
Wednesday: 6 Mile run
Thursday: 3 Mile run plus Strength workout
Friday: Rest, glorious rest.
Saturday: 12 mile run
This feels very doable, especially the weekly mileage. Should be fun getting in all these workouts with a million people on grounds, but I guess that’ll be good practice for summer! I’m so spoiled!
And the winner of the Polk Audio $50 gift card giveaway is…the lovely Stacy Ashworth!! Check out Stacy’s amazing blog Foolish for Light and say congratulations while you’re there!
Yup! I’m a proud aunt and I love these cuties!
