Have you ever wondered what Garth Brooks eats?
I am a long term Garth Brooks fan. I was that 5 year old singing Friends in Low Places. So when I picked out the Trisha’s Table cookbook in part it was so I could get a behind the scenes look into Garth’s life. Just call me a fangirl.
In fact what I found was down home recipes with a similar philosophy to my cooking: “feel good favorites for a balanced life”. That is exactly what you will find in this cookbook: down home recipes given a fresh, healthier makeover, with a few treats thrown in.
None of the recipes are overly complicated. You’ll see lots of favorites like baked spaghetti, meatloaf, and casseroles. I tried a stir-fry dish that was new to me. It was a little overly salty, but otherwise good.
Not many of the recipes seemed very original, but I think that was the point of this book, just healthier versions of old time favorites. I also wouldn’t call it a “clean” cookbook; although the recipes are healthier if you’ve been at healthy living for a long while you may not consider it healthier than your normal fare. I did enjoy the personal tidbits about “the Yearwoods” life and Trisha’s healthy living journey as well. Overall, a good cookbook with classic recipes, great for those just starting to revamp into a more healthier lifestyle.
