So my day yesterday didn’t exactly go as planned….my plan involved making Nate a cheesecake, working a few hours, and then hanging out with some friends, but instead I spent most of Valentines Day lying on the couch and here.
That would be ER. I was in a lot of pain yesterday and since we don’t have a doctor here in Michgan yet, the only option that involved seeing a medical professional before the end of the month was the ER. Turns out I have a bacterial infection. Pleasant. So we left 6 hours later with antibiotics and pain reliever…nothing like a romantic night in the ER and at Wal-Mart getting prescriptions filled. haha!
I’m glad Nate was with me the whole time, being loving and supportive and funny. (We actually found our new favorite show called TooCute on Animal Planet. Basically it’s just puppies and kittens all day long!) And I’m glad my mom yelled at me to go to the hospital. I’m glad for modern medicine. I’m glad for sleep and rest days. And I’m glad I finished the cheesecake before the pain got too bad so I had this to enjoy when I got home.
I’m not glad because my 1/2 Marathon on Sunday is basically off. womp, womp–valentine’s day bummer complete. It was really just a bonus run, but I was excited to get another race medal and it’s too late to transfer my bib so I’m out $50 too. I’ll still go tomorrow and get my race swag, so it’s not a complete loss.
I am bummed, but I always have told my self that I run FOR my health and not AGAINST it. I feel like this run would be against my better overall health. Fighting an infection and running a half marathon doesn’t sound like two things my body can do well at the same time.
But that doesn’t mean I’m not bummed. Oh well. What are you going to do?
Pass the cheesecake please.
