What’s Beautiful To Me.

This post is sponsored by Under Armour through Fitfluential. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Beauty is a funny thing.

I typed “beautiful women” into my Pinterest seach bar and this is what I found:

Well, that certainly is beautiful (especially all those cups of coffee!) but beauty is so subjective.  What was beautiful when I was a teenager or a college student has changed pretty significantly.  The people and things I find most beautiful aren’t necessarily young or fresh—mostly their older, they know that life can be hard and yet have emerged glowing, beautiful, more radiant and confident than ever.

What’s beautiful to me are people who struggle and overcome; who get up each day and even though they’d rather give up, they get up and keep moving forward with a smile on their face and grace in their hearts. That’s why I haven’t given up on running and healthy living because I couldn’t run my marathon. Part of me wanted to, believe me, but what’s beautiful to me is my determination to keep going even though my goal had to be modified and delayed.

I’m excited to be a part of the Under Armour’s What’s Beautiful 3.0 because it allows you to define what’s beautiful on your terms.

From their website:

Together we’re redefining the female athlete by setting epic goals and pushing past where we’ve ever been and where we thought we could go. Join us. Set your own personal goal. Then document your journey by posting videos and photos that tell your story from start to victory.

So basically, they are asking women to define what’s beautiful to them and then shape it into an action-oriented goal.  So what’s beautiful to you? Maybe a faster 5K time? Maybe doing 20 push-ups with perfect form?  Maybe eating 5 servings of fruits and veggies for glowing skin?

For my goal I chose basically to reiterate my May SMART goals:

  • To complete the Summer Shred—strengthening and toning my body.
  • Engage in a full IT band recovery and run a 5K by the end of the month
  • Complete 3 new-to-me fitness activities.

Pretty simple! You can post your goals on the site and then upload photos of your progress. You can also complete challenges like posting your favorite stretching routine or becoming the “Burpee Queen” or writing a note to your future self explaining what you’ll gain by completing your goal.

There are even teams you can join to  keep you accountable to similar goals. After a good deal of thought I also decided to create my own team called “Keep Moving Forward” because I am SO inspired by those who make everyday choices towards healthier living—physically, mentally, and spiritually. My team will focus on making smart decisions that propel long-term health.  I’m planning to post weekly and daily challenges that will help keep you moving forward and ask you to come up with your own creative ways to challenge other team members too!

Please join me by signing up with your own goals and joining my Keep Moving Forward team!

This is a great way to kick start your motivation, encourage others, and be inspired along the way to be your most beautiful self!

  1. I love this post! And I totally agree. I hold so much admiration for those who have gone through so much adversity but are still alive, successful, and living their lives to the fullest. It takes no small amount of courage to do so!
